The Waratah Select Mortgage Fund is managed by Shakespeare
Haney Securities Limited (SHSL), who act as the responsible
entity of the Fund in accordance with the provisions of the
Corporations Act.
SHSL and its predecessors have a long history
in the Funds management business spanning almost 40 years.
The company holds Australian Financial Services Licence No
226348, issued by the Australian Securities and Investments
Commission.
The company has also expanded into the Sydney market,
setting up office in the heart of the CBD. Chairman
John Haney says the move is an acknowledgement that much of
the company's recent growth has come from Sydney investors.
The directors attribute much of the company's stability to
the continuity of personnel, with 5 of the key members of staff
having accumulated more than 100 years of service between them.
The directors also take great pride in the fact that some
of their investors have been investing with them for more than
30 years.

John Haney (Director)
John Haney is Chairman of Shakespeare Haney. Mr Haney has over
30 years’ experience in operating and managing the
provision of mortgage finance. He has played an essential
role in the successful growth and development of the extensive
property finance business.
Mr Haney is also a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland
and New South Wales.
John Haney brings to Shakespeare Haney Securities Limited
his wealth of considerable experience in mortgage finance and
his specialist knowledge in the administration and management
of the Fund.
David Williams (Director)
David Williams is a director of Shakespeare Haney and heads
the mortgage management and operations of the company.
David Williams has a Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland
University of Technology and is a Solicitor of the Supreme
Court of Queensland and of the High Court of Australia. Mr
Williams has completed a Certificate of Financial Planning
Principles and Practice with the Securities Institute of Australia,
is the secretary/treasurer of the Mortgage Managers Association
(Qld) Inc. and an associate of the Securities Institute of
Australia.
Mr Williams has over 23 years’ experience in mortgage
and securities work. Of particular benefit to us is his experience
in analysing mortgage defaults and taking appropriate and timely
action to protect investments.
David Williams has completed a Diploma of Mortgage Lending
with the Securities Institute of Australia, which included
the following modules:
• Mortgage Lending Law;
• The Mortgage Industry;
• Processing and Managing Mortgage Loans;
• Mortgage Lending Financial Statements;
• Mortgage Credit Analysis; and
• Mortgage Funding and Risk Management.
Gina Sly (Mortgage Manager)
Gina Sly is Shakespeare Haney’s mortgage manager.
She has over 16 years’ banking and finance experience
and specialises in all facets of property finance. She has
worked specifically within the development finance divisions
of 2 major banks. Her expertise is in credit analysis, financial
and cash flows analysis and security evaluation.
Gina Sly has a Bachelor of Business in Accounting
and a Certificate of Financial Planning, Principles and Practice
with the Securities Institute of Australia.
Nick Haney (Finance Manager)
With over 8 years experience working for SHSL and overseeing more than $500M in property transactions Nick brings a wide range of skills to all property types. Nick has established contacts throughout Australia most notably in Sydney and South East Queensland.
Nick has completed a Diploma of Mortgage Lending as well as a Masters degree in Urban Development and Sustainability at Bond University and has also obtained his real estate registration through the REIQ.
Nick has forged many relationships with key players in all aspects of the funds management and real estate fields which is vital to realising the full potential of property in today's challenging property and finance industries.
Business Administration
Tania Lowe, Angela Davis and Bernadette Smith operate the business
administration and between them have over 54 years combined
experience with Shakespeare Haney and its predecessors.
Sydney Office – Jim Cameron (Manager)
An experienced property industry figure, Jim brings to Shakespeare
Haney a broad range of skills acquired during a 40-year career
in NSW and Queensland, both as a developer and in the provision
of development finance. Having been a borrower of Shakespeare
Haney for more than 20 years, Jim has a thorough understanding
of the company’s lending criteria and procedures.
Jim’s extensive building industry knowledge and his
experience in dealing with planning and approval processes
and local authorities have proved invaluable to the NSW operation.

and lifts our profile in the city where we have been conducting
